Tasting Notes:

Tasting notes taken 26 June 2018, 50 days after kegging. Dispensed from kegerator into a dimpled mug.

Appearance: thoroughly murky and hazy, it has a surprisingly dark-gold hue. Head is just a very thin layer of foam because of carbonation problems, but still the body is exactly what I wanted. (4)

Smell: honeydew melon, pineapple, guava, maybe a little cantaloupe. Melony and tropical; I absolutely love it and it's just what I wanted from this beer. Hooray massive dry hops! I am also amazed how well it's held up; this was kegged almost 2 months ago and is still really, really nice. (4.5)

Taste: sweetish with an interestingly tropical hop flavor. Some of that guava and papaya remain, although the melon and pineapple character subside a bit compared to the aroma. It may have been a little bit richer when it was fresh, but generally I remember it being about this good. Bitterness is on the medium-light side; again, just what I was going for. I really like this recipe and would gladly make it again. (425)

Mouthfeel: medium body with practically no carbonation. It's really heartbreaking when the keg won't hold pressure; I sacrificed a fair amount of CO2 to this thing and monkeyed with the fittings but, short of transferring to a new keg, I think I'm SOL. Anyway, appropriate weight but really needs good carbonation. (3)

Drinkability: I almost enjoy smelling this stuff more than drinking it. It is delightfully refreshing and quaffable; I could down pint after pint of this stuff. (45)

Overall score 4.15 (A-). I really should have done something about the carbonation, because this beer really could be incredible. I brought a half-sixtel of this stuff (properly carbonated) to ATG Brewers Night at work, and it was very popular (all 2.5 or so gallons got drunk), although it received no votes in the People's Choice vote that we had. This beer is expensive as hell (just this batch was something like $75 in ingredients), but damn is it tasty. I really do love the juicy, tropical IPA craze we're living in right now.
