General Notes:

This was a half-batch. Brewed for ATG Oktoberfest 2019. My first kveik beer! The SV triticale malt is a wheat/rye hybrid. The Amarillos were about 2 years old at this point, but kept sealed and frozen, so I compensated by adding a little more. Dry hops added 4 days into fermentation.
Tasting Notes:

Dispensed from keg into snifter. Tasting notes 10/17/19.

Appearance: pale golden hue with a pretty prominent haze. It didn't have a crash period, so obviously lots of oils and whatnot still in suspension. Head was a thin layer of white foam. I think it looks quite good. 3.75

Smell: a light farmhouse funk with just a touch of fruitiness and a bit of a citrusy hop character. It's both mild and interesting; I really like the subtle complexity here. 4

Taste: light maltiness; a berry-like quality I'm mentally attributing to the rye, and a bit of a refreshing wheatiness. Bitterness is pretty low, and hop flavor is green and citrusy, but mild. The amarillos are really good here, although something like citra or galaxy would really pop. 4

Mouthfeel: medium body with a low carbonation and a decent enough creaminess. I didn't give this guy really long enough to carbonate, but overall it's not bad. 3.5

Drinkability: I love this beer. I could house a gallon of it right now. So overall, it ended up really to my taste, despite some minor imperfections. 4.5

Overall score 3.95 (B+). Like I said, I might try this with a more exotic hop, and possibly without a 60 minute addition (or, an even more token one of like 1g or something). Really enjoyable.
