Tasting Notes: Tasting notes taken 17 May 2014, 20 days after kegging. Dispensed from kegerator into a dimpled mug. Appearance: light golden hue with a little bit of haze and a light effervescence. Head poured two fingers of frothy white foam and has pretty good retention, leaving a chunky foam on the glass. Not sure what more I could ask of the style. (4) Smell: lightly grainy malt aroma with a dash of sweetness. There's a light but enticing yeasty character with a pretty light hop aroma. I like it, but a little bit more hop character would be nice. (3.75) Taste: grainy malt flavor with quite a bit of yeastiness and breadiness. Again, I like the overall effect but it could use more hop flavor (if not, necessarily, more bitterness). (3.75) Mouthfeel: medium body with a good carbonation; this one came out creamy and delightful. (4) Drinkability: this is a highly drinkable brew. A little bit of a green hop aroma would really kick this over the edge into supremely quaffable. (4) Overall score 3.85 (B+). Perhaps the hops I used are getting a bit old or something, because there were plenty of hops in the recipe but they aren't really coming through. Still a tasty beer. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
