Tasting Notes: Tasting notes taken 22 October 2017, 110 days after kegging. Dispensed from kegerator into a dimpled mug. Appearance: medium golden hue with the tiniest dash of haze and a finger of frothy ivory foam. It's a good-looking beer. (4) Smell: minty, herbal hops with a very dank, damp wet-hop character. This beer wasn't wet-hopped, but the dry hops were left in way too long. Not the worst thing in the world, but pretty mistreated. (325) Taste: not as bad as the aroma. Minty hops, some sweetish malt character, and a little bit of fruitiness. Bitterness is relatively high but it's not raspy or anything. Sokay. (35) Mouthfeel: medium body with a decent carbonation and creaminess. Certainly not bad for a session-strength IPA. (375) Drinkability: it's definitely quaffable; light and airy like a session IPA should be. However, the mistreatment in the dry-hopping is just too ... depressing. (325) Overall score 3.55 (B). It's definitely a beer I can drink without too many problems, but it's not a wonderful brew. I should really do this again except NOT mistreat it in the same fashion (which is to say, 30 days before dry hops added and 30 days with the dry hops -- 2 months is too many months for an IPA). | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
