General Notes: Dry hops added 11 days into fermentation. Left this in the primary 416 days (for real). Not my finest hour. Availability was truncated due to a kegerator disaster and subsequent cleanup; the remainder of this beer was dumped.
Tasting Notes: Tasting notes taken 9 June 2016, 22 days after kegging. Dispensed from kegerator into a dimpled mug. Appearance: rich, dark orange hue with a light haze. Head is a thin layer of frothy ivory foam -- surprise, surprise, I screwed up the carbonation on this one as well. Truly an accursed beer. (3.75) Smell: sweet and oxidized with just a dash of hops. You know, it's not terrible, it's just not very good. (2.5) Taste: oxidized, sweet, perhaps a little bit buttery. Bitterness of the hops is fine, but there's no hop flavor left. I have had worse commercial beers, but not many. (2.5) Mouthfeel: medium body with a low level of carbonation. Not creamy, but there's a nice smoothness here. Despite my carbonation problems, it's really quite decent. (3.5) Drinkability: I can power it down; it's my "penance beer". (2.75) Overall score 2.88 (C). I have made worse beers, and I have drunk worse beers, but not a whole lot of either. I have nobody to blame but myself for abusing this beer the way I did. That said, it is still beer, it hasn't poisoned me yet, and really what more can you ask of a beverage.
